What happened
The official WeDo 2.0 app is retired. Your kits still work.
LEGO Education retired the WeDo 2.0 app in January 2024. After teachers pushed back, the store listings said it would stay available until 31 July 2026. It gets no further updates.
Copies that are already installed keep working until an operating-system update breaks them, but a new or reset tablet has nothing to reinstall. LEGO's own upgrade path, SPIKE Essential, was itself withdrawn from sale on 30 June 2026.
Your WeDo 2.0 Smarthubs, motors and sensors are fine. They only need software that can talk to them. RoboGuru for WeDo 2.0 is one option, and Scratch 3 is another.

0 new kits to buy
-
Every device in your school
Runs on iPhone & iPad, Android, Web editor, Windows, macOS, and Linux. One app for a mixed fleet.
-
Coding with blocks
Children drag and snap blocks together to build programs for their WeDo 2.0 models, then run them on the hub.
-
One lesson, many devices
Pupils on iPads, Android tablets and school laptops use the same app, so one lesson plan works for the whole class.
-
Made for the WeDo 2.0 Smarthub
Built around the Smarthub from the WeDo 2.0 Core Set (45300), not a general robotics tool with WeDo added on.
-
Installs on new devices
Once the official listings are gone, a new or reset tablet has nothing to reinstall. RoboGuru installs like any other app, whenever you need it.
-
Independent and upfront
RoboGuru is made by an independent developer, not by LEGO, and every page of this site says so.

FAQ
Questions parents and teachers ask
Short answers to the questions we hear most. The full list is on the FAQ page.
What happened to the LEGO WeDo 2.0 app?
LEGO Education retired it. The store listings said the app would remain available until 31 July 2026, and it no longer gets updates or support. Copies already installed may keep working until an operating-system update breaks them.
Do my WeDo 2.0 kits still work?
Yes. The Smarthub, motors and sensors are fine. You just need software that can talk to them, such as RoboGuru for WeDo 2.0 or Scratch 3.
What is RoboGuru for WeDo 2.0?
An independent app for programming LEGO® WeDo 2.0 models with blocks. It connects to the WeDo 2.0 Smarthub and runs on iPhone & iPad, Android, Web editor, Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Is RoboGuru made by LEGO?
No. RoboGuru for WeDo 2.0 is made by an independent developer and is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by the LEGO Group.
Which devices does RoboGuru run on?
iPhone & iPad, Android, Web editor, Windows, macOS, and Linux. The Download page lists every platform with its store link or download.
How much does RoboGuru cost?
RoboGuru for WeDo 2.0 is a paid app: you pay once in the store you install it from, with no subscription. The Pricing page shows the current price.
Scratch is free. Why pay for RoboGuru?
Scratch is great, and it works with WeDo 2.0. It needs the Scratch Link helper on Windows and Mac computers, and it does not work with WeDo 2.0 on iPads or, officially, on Linux. RoboGuru is one app for all of those devices.
My hub won't connect. What should I try?
Fit fresh batteries and close any other app that might be connected to the hub, because only one app can connect at a time. Make sure Bluetooth is switched on and allowed for RoboGuru, then press the hub's green button until the light blinks and choose the hub in the app.
